Summary

This work consists of fragments of an astrological poem by Dorotheus of Sidon, preserved through quotations by Hephaestion of Thebes. Written in verse, the text systematically explains the correspondences between the twelve signs of the zodiac and various regions of the earth, as well as various technical astrological doctrines. The first half of the work details the specific geographical regions (clima) ruled and influenced by each zodiac sign in order. In the second half, the focus shifts to more specialized astrological rules, outlining the degrees of "terms" (boundaries) within each sign and the day and night rulers of the triplicities. Furthermore, it details the signs in which each planet "rejoices," as well as the exact degrees of their "exaltation" and "depression." It is a valuable text that transmits ancient astrological knowledge through poetic expression.
