Meditations

Written by the Roman Emperor and Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius, Meditations is a collection of personal reflections and philosophical thoughts on how to live a virtuous life in accordance with the rational order of the universe. Formatted as a private spiritual diary rather than a formal treatise, the work consists of aphorisms, self-admonitions, and deep meditations on nature, duty, and mortality. The work opens with a moving expression of gratitude, where the author recalls the moral virtues and valuable lessons he inherited from his family, teachers, and the divine.
