This work is an ancient geographical and historical record of the colonizing and exploratory voyage along the western coast of Africa, led by the Carthaginian commander Hanno. Commissioned by Carthage, Hanno sets sail with a large fleet, passing through the Pillars of Heracles into the unknown ocean. Along the way, the expedition establishes several cities and settlements, gradually pushing further south into unexplored territories. As they journey deeper, they encounter extraordinary phenomena and strange creatures, including burning lands, a towering volcanic mountain, and hairy wild people called "Gorillas." Ultimately, faced with a shortage of provisions, they are forced to abandon further exploration and return home.
